I was thinking about Everest and the people who hike it. Some of the mountain is clear and some of it is not, so the way up has to be found. Climbers arrive season after season to reach the summit, to achieve something, to set a record, and then they go home. I imagine all those footsteps hurt it. Whatever it costs, the mountain holds every one of them without complaint and it is still standing. I kept the summit unclear in the paint for that reason. The mountain is the one doing the carrying.
