Priyadarshani Tennakoon is a Sri Lankan contemporary abstract artist working in acrylic on canvas.

Her paintings are built on texture. Some begin with modeling paste worked with a palette knife into ridges and hollows; others begin with a simple base coat. In places she pours thinned paint and lets it settle into the surface. She develops each canvas until a form begins to surface, sometimes one she is reaching for, sometimes one she did not foresee, and stops when it feels like enough.

Her subjects come from nature, memory, and imagination: places she has stood in and places she has invented; figures that arrive half-seen. The paintings move between abstraction and recognition, and the reading is left open to the viewer.

Tennakoon began her creative path in 2010 with hand-painted greeting cards, and is the founder of Anuhasa, which grew from cards, handcrafted florals, and wall hangings into a dedicated painting practice. Her debut solo exhibition, To Wait for What Appears, was held at the Lionel Wendt Gallery, Colombo, in August 2026. Her work next appears in A Grammar of Color, a group exhibition at the Lionel Wendt Art Gallery in December 2026.
