Priyadarshani Tennakoon is a contemporary abstract artist exploring texture and serene hues, inviting viewers to embark on their own imaginative journeys through her work. Her creative journey commenced in 2010 with hand-painted greeting cards, evolving organically into a profound passion for abstract painting.
Driven by a passion for creativity, she founded “Anuhasa Creations,” a venture that is home for artificial flower arrangements, handcrafted and hand-painted greeting cards designed in various styles, and wall hangings, amongst an ever-growing array of artistic products.
I am a contemporary abstract artist drawn to the interplay of texture and serene hues, inviting viewers to embark on their own imaginative journeys through my work. Each piece is a seamless blend of flow, textural patterns, and movement.
In my process, I use molding paste to create the texture base, and then carefully blend it with chosen colors to create depth and dimension. I create desired patterns or shapes while it is in this semi-fluid state, and the textures are then complemented with various pouring methods using liquid paint.
While I primarily resort to using a palette knife to create textures, I enjoy experimenting with alternative tools, such as banyan tree prop roots dipped in paint, to introduce unique textures and forms. Acrylic paint remains my preferred medium for its seamless workflow and versatility in color exploration.
My artistic journey began with humble roots in hand-painted greeting cards, evolving into a deep passion for canvas painting. This exploration has allowed me to merge imagination with nature, blurring the lines between abstraction, surrealism, and naturalism. As I continue to push artistic boundaries and embark on new creative endeavors, I am keen to delve deeper into refining my unique style and embracing the boundless opportunities that lie ahead.
